Watch Law Enforcement Whistleblower Austin Handle speak at National Whistleblower Center’s 2024 National Whistleblower Day celebration on Capitol Hill. Austin Handle is a former Dunwoody, Georgia, Police Officer. In 2020, Handle exposed corruption and sexual misconduct in his police department, leading to his wrongful termination. He is currently the Vice Chair and founding member of the Lamplighter Project. In his speech, Handle discusses how he discovered one of his supervisors within the Department was targeting fellow officers and children with sexual misconduct and abuse. When Handle spoke out about the violent misconduct, he was placed on probation for misconduct himself and was later terminated. After three years of investigation with the Department of Labor, they finally ruled that Handle had been wrongfully accused and fired. Handle currently works to help other police whistleblowers. In his speech, he shares stories of officers who have reported policy fraud, bribery, sexual violence, and other misconduct.
